has supported her effectiveness as subject leader. Her subject
knowledge has increased and also her confidence in supporting
colleagues and managing change.’
Headteacher
The
course equips participants to lead whole school development in
English to raise children’s achievement. It is of particular
interest to schools with newly appointed English subject leaders
and those with language and literacy as a key area for
development in their school plan. The focus is on developing
course members’ subject knowledge and their role as subject
leader. There is a balance between relevant theory and models of
good practice drawing on the expertise of highly regarded
outside speakers and experienced English subject leaders.
Teachers
successfully completing the course can choose to submit course
work for accreditation to gain a Postgraduate Certificate,
equivalent to the first year of an MA. These points are
transferable to higher education institutions.
