This simply written, illustrated booklet provides suggested ways to develop young children’s pleasure and interest in stories, books, reading and writing from the earliest years. It is available to parents in English and a range of other community languages.

Simply the Best Books for Children
In Autumn 2003 CLPE will publish 2 booklists for parents. The booklists (0-7 years and 7-11years) will be packed with carefully chosen suggestions to encourage children’s enthusiasm for books and their development as readers. They will be accessible, illustrated guides to choosing books which match children’s interests and stages of reading.

Reading Together
This is an accessible, handbook, written by Myra Barrs and Sue Ellis of CLPE. It is illustrated in colour and published by Walker Books. It offers practical information and advice for parents, and answers common questions that parents ask about their children’s literacy. Originally written to accompany the innovative Reading Together series, it has sold over one million copies world wide.
