CLPE has been a provider of family learning programmes in the London Borough of Southwark since 2001.
Our courses are designed for
adults - parents, carers and other
family members – as well as their children. Family learning courses
take place in schools and children’s centres and at CLPE.

All CLPE tutors are qualified to teach adults and many are also qualified as teachers of children. Tutors encourage parents and carers to think about their own learning and how they can progress, as well as teaching parents about how children learn.

Adults can gain a qualification (usually at Entry 3 or Level 1) in literacy or numeracy on most of our courses.

The usual format for a family learning course is for an adult-only session to be followed by a joint session. During the joint session, parents and children work together on practical activities that are designed to help them develop their relationship, as well as be informative and fun.
