CLPE is renowned for its expertise in creative approaches to language, literacy and learning. It has a significant history in fostering poetry in schools. This has informed innovative publications for teachers such as A Year in Poetry and Hands on Poetry.

Each year in collaboration with Excellence in Southwark, CLPE publishes an anthology of children's poetry.

CLPE also presents an annual poetry award which honours excellence in poetry written for children. Winners have included: Carol Ann Duffy, Roger McGough, John Agard, Grace Nichols and Jackie Kay.

Coming soon is CLPE's new poetry website 'Poetryline' featuring the poets Michael Rosen, James Berry, Jackie Kay and Roger McGough. Watch this space for fantastic film footage, teaching resources and ideas.
