CLPE Poetry Award winner 2008
The CLPE Poetry Award winner for 2008 is Jackie Kay for
Red, Cherry Red
The presentation was made at
the Royal Festival Hall on 1st July 2008 by Ian McMillan.
The judges were Ian McMillan, Fiona
Waters, and Julie Johnstone, chaired by Margaret Meek Spencer.
Children's Laureate Michael Rosen interviewed Jackie who also
read some of her poems.
The CLPE Poetry Award honours excellence in poetry written for
children. It is presented annually for a book of poetry
published in the proceeding year. Previous winners include Roger
McGough, John Agard and Grace Nichols.
The
CLPE Poetry Award is supported by Mr and Mrs J.A.Pye’s
