An internationally acclaimed storyteller, Bob Barton has been working with children and teachers for over twenty-five years. Here he demonstrates his highly successful approach to storytelling. We see him working with two classes (years 4 and 5) in an inner London primary school, and we are shown how he involves children in work with the story; how he draws on oral culture and personal anecdote; and how he encourages children to picture and re-enact episodes from stories. He also suggests on the video ways in which teachers can develop storytelling in the classroom.
