Celebrate Refugee Week with a book recommended by CLPE

Refugee Week runs from 17 - 23 June 2013. Celebrate at school or at home with carefully selected books focusing on Identity, Belonging, Conflict, Migrant and Refugee Experiences.

This booklist was created by Ann Lazim, Literature and Library Development Manager and Farrah Serroukh, Primary Advisory Teacher at CLPE.

A Focus on Phonics

Now is a great time to prepare so you are ready to go when the new school year begins . We are running a phonics course starting in June and it's not too late to enrol.

Gaps in Phonics - Supporting Struggling Readers in KS2 is a one day course focusing on children's reading development through increasing subject knowledge, sharing a wide range of strategies to decipher text and use of high quality texts to develop a love of reading.

CLPE Poetry Award 2013 winner

GiantsThe winner is George Szirtes: In the Land of Giants, illustrated by Helen Szirtes (Salt Publishing)
Four books of children's poetry were shortlisted for this year's award which is sponsored by Travelling Books. The winner was announced on 30 April.
